Choosing licorice over something sweeter for the top of a berry driven fragrance is an unusual call, and Donna Karan makes it anyway in Be Delicious Be Tempted Perfume, red berries, apple cassia and lemon joining in for a fruity brightness cut by something dark and faintly aniseed. Apple cassia is an odd pairing to list as a single note. Rose, violet and orange blossom form a soft, powdery floral centre that pulls the composition back toward the conventional. Vanilla, Indonesian patchouli leaf and myrrh crown it warm, earthy and resinous. Myrrh is the note that changes everything, adding a smoky, almost ceremonial quality beneath the fruit that lingers well into the evening. It is a good argument for giving in to temptation, at least where fragrance is concerned.
