Privacy policy

This policy describes what personal data Daily Fragrance Scout collects, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. We collect as little as we can, and we do not sell personal data.

Data we collect

If you create an account, we store your email address, your display name, and the content you create: saved deals, follows, alert preferences, deal submissions, votes, and reports. When you click an outbound merchant link, we record the click for analytics with a hashed IP address — the raw IP address is hashed before storage and is never stored in raw form. Search queries are logged to improve search quality, without any link to your user identity.

Why we collect it

We use this data to operate the service: signing you in, showing your saved deals and alerts, moderating submissions, measuring which deals are useful, preventing abuse such as vote manipulation, and meeting our legal obligations. We do not use your data for third-party advertising profiles, and we do not sell personal data to anyone.

Cookies

We use a strictly necessary session cookie to keep you signed in, and we store your cookie-consent choice in your browser. Analytics runs only if you consent, and no analytics provider is configured by default. You can review or change your choice at any time on the cookie preferences page.

Your rights: export and deletion

You can export a copy of your data and delete your account at any time from Settings — no email required, no waiting on support. Deletion removes your account and personal data; aggregate records that contain no personal identity (such as hashed click counts) may be retained for statistics.

Retention

Account data is kept for as long as your account exists and is deleted when you delete the account. Hashed click analytics and identity-free search logs are kept only as long as they are useful for the statistical purposes described above, and are then deleted or further aggregated.
