Eleven different flowers share one centre in Gres Cabotine Perfume, and somehow none of them elbow the others out, though coriander, orange blossom, cassia, black currant, plum, peach and tangerine lead first, fruity and green, the coriander adding a spiced edge underneath. Tuberose, hyacinth, carnation, jasmine, ginger, ylang ylang, rose, freesia, iris, heliotrope and violet crowd the centre with practically every white and powdery flower available. Civet, musk, black currant, vetiver, sandalwood, cedar, amber, tonka bean and vanilla resolve warm and faintly animalic, sensual and richly enveloping throughout. Black currant appearing in both the top and the base is the structural trick, tying the two ends together across an enormous middle. Gres built Cabotine Perfume as a floral green Eau de Parfum with daytime elegance and spring afternoons in mind. Cabotine Perfume is the kind of fragrance that quietly gets noticed.
