About this deal
Jean Paul Gaultier built an entire visual identity around this bottle's torso shape, and the fragrance inside has held its own against that packaging for decades. Lavender, mint, cardamom, bergamot and artemisia open with a sharp, herbal freshness that's since become a genre-defining structure for men's fougères. Cinnamon, orange blossom and caraway build a spiced, slightly sweet core that softens the herbal top without losing its edge. Vanilla, tonka bean, amber, sandalwood and cedar close things out rich and warm, giving Le Male Eau de Toilette its distinctive gourmand-leaning conclusion. Aromatic fougère is the technical classification, though the vanilla-heavy close pushes it warmer than most fragrances in that family typically run. Le Male Cologne suits both daytime and evening wear comfortably, which has helped it remain a bestseller across multiple generations of wearers. Fall and winter let the vanilla and tonka close perform at its richest, though the lavender top keeps it wearable into spring. Decades after release, the lavender-vanilla contrast Gaultier struck here still hasn't been fully replicated by its many imitators.
